Autumn Term message from Mrs Eaves:

Welcome back to school!  I am really looking forward to this half term with my new class. We will be doing lots of exciting learning.  Our main learning theme will be 'Childhood' and we will be doing some History work.  Can you ask your parents and grandparents what things were like when they were children?   We will also be starting to learn the times tables.  Can you count in 2s and 10s?  If you can - your next challenge is to start to remember the 5 times tables.

We also have an exciting half term as we will be going outdoors every Friday afternoon with our learning. Some children will go into forest school, and the rest of us will do our Outdoor Curriculum so please remember your wellies!

Please have a look at the fridge words linked below. These words are based on the vocabulary we are exploring within our topic and science lessons. How many of these can you learn?

Please take a look at the documents below so you know exactly what we will be learning this term.

If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to ask - I am happy to help!

Mrs Eaves 😊

Lots of fun learning in Year One

In Geogrpahy we have been looking at a range of maps, including a globe, picture maps, maps with keys, world maps, atlases, Ordnance Survey maps and the digital maps Digimaps and Google Maps. Children were keen to find the location of St Annes on the maps and we discussed what is a map, and how are they used.

In Science we have started to learn about humans, and that we are a type of animal known as a mammal. The children have been drawing around each other and labelling body parts

A Grand Day Out for Year 2!

Year 2 had a fantastic day today at Fairhaven Lake, building on our science learning all about habitats! Thechildren had the opportunity to go mud dipping, searching for invertebrates and using their sieve and spotting card to identify minibeasts. We found lots of mud creatures, including shrimps, macoma, whelk eggs and shore crabs.

After lunch, we learned all about birds. We looked closely at thei feathers, their nests and even learned their special bird songs. The children were brilliant at spotting birds on the lake using their binoculars and knowledge of different bird species.

What a grand day out, Year 2!

A very mysterious visitor...

Oh my... before half term we had some very mysterious things happening in our Year 2 classroom! It all began when we discovered a giant footprint outside the classroom and from then on there was something new appearing every day! We even spotted the giant on CCTV putting on his wig and glasses! The giant wrote a letter addressed to Year 2 so the children wrote a letter back to him to find out more about the myterious happenings. Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum!
